Air Lift Air Spring Benefits
Air Lift Air Springs Adjust to the Load
The major benefit of Air Lift air springs is that you can adjust air pressure to compensate for your load condition. This ensures that your load is balanced and level for better comfort and control. When your load increases, you just add air.
The chart below shows the differences in load conditions, and how a vehicle will ride with no helper springs, steel helper springs or rubber overload springs, and air springs.
| No Helper Springs |
Steel Helper Springs |
With Air Springs |

Even Light Loads Cause Factory Suspension to Sag

Steel Helper Springs give a Rough Ride with No Load or a Light Load |

Air Springs provide a Comfortable Ride - Loaded or Unloaded |

Heavy Loads Cause Extra Sag and Bottoming Out for Factory Suspensions

Steel Helper Springs still Sag with Heavy Load |

Level and Stable Ride up to Gross Vehicle Weight Rating |

Off-center Loads Cause Vehicle Lean & Poor Handling with Factory Suspension

A Level Ride is a Safer Ride
Air Lift Air springs will provide smoother control of your pickup, car, van, or RV. Handling problems caused by heavy or uneven loads can be quickly corrected by merely adding or subtracting air.
We carry air systems that are fully automatic, to maintain a level ride under any condition, or systems for easy driver control. Choose a system that adjusts both rear springs together for front-to-back control, or one that adjusts the springs individually for side-to-side and front-to-back leveling. Air Springs are the Load & Towing Problem Solver
Put an end to these common loading, towing or worn suspension problems:
- Sag: Front-to-rear and side-to-side, Air Lift Air Springs keep your vehicle level. Proper weight distribution to all the tires improves steering, braking, and tire wear.
- Sway & Body Roll: Air Springs increase spring rate and vastly improve vehicle stability. Less roll and sway mean more passenger comfort and greater cargo hauling capacity.
- Bottoming Out: Air Lifts raise loaded or older vehicles back to normal ride height. By increasing suspension travel and spring rate, Air Lifts reduce wear and tear on suspensions and eliminate 'crashing' on bumps and dips.
- Headlight Aim: Only level and stable vehicles provide safe and proper headlight aiming. Air Lift air springs mean level vehicles for all load and road conditions.
- Trailer Sway: For balance, control and safer sway-free towing, trailer tongues and hitches must be properly aligned. Air Lifts permit precise vehicle height adjustment for exact alignment...no more trailer sway.
- Rough Ride: Uneven, washboard roads cause tire bounce, less road contact, and increase suspension wear. Air Lift air spring's "progressive" spring rate soaks up bumps, keping tires on the road for better handling and longer suspension and driveline life.

Air Spring Q&A
Q. Do you have to add a compressor system to your springs?
A. No. Air pressure can be adjusted with just about any type of compressor, as long as it can produce sufficient pressure to service the springs. You can even use a bicycle tire pump, but it's a lot of work. Review the compressor systems we have to offer...
Q. Can air springs raise or lower my vehicle?
A. If you're asking if the air spring can take the place of a lift kit or a lowering kit, the answer is NO. If you're asking if the air spring will cause a normal ride height vehicle to ride higher, the answer is yes if you want it to. By adjusting the air pressure, you can create some lift, but usually only an inch or two.
Q. I have a vehicle that rides rough, can I add air springs and make it ride better?
A. It depends on what is causing the rough ride. If the rough ride is caused by weak or overloaded springs, the answer is yes. Vehicles with weak or overloaded springs can bottom out which causes some very harsh ride problems. Reading through the Air Lift User Manual will give you a good understanding of the use of Air Lift products and the problems they help to correct.
