Air Lift 1000 Air Spring Kit and Air Bags

Engineered as an add-on helper spring for coil spring suspensions, AirLift 1000s are ideal for the rear coil springs of many passenger cars and some SUV's, such as Grand Cherokees, that tow or carry light to medium loads. Kits are also available for front coil spring vehicles such as trucks, SUVs, and motorhomes.

AirLift 1000 features an easy do-it-yourself installation with simple hand tools. Most kits can be installed in about an hour, with no drilling required!

How Does the Air Lift 1000 Work?

Air Lift 1000 is made from a very durable polyurethane material and is inserted into the vehicle's stock coil springs. When filled with air, it increases the spring rate, or ability to support a load. Because of its design, Air Lift 1000 products are best stated as load support products, rather than lifting products.

The Air Lift 1000 products function much different from LoadLifter 5000 and Ride Control kits. When charged with air the bag will grow in all directions much like blowing up a balloon. Controlling the growth requires a coil spring to hold it into shape and funnel its spring energy into its length. The bag's spring rate comes from compressing its length and also from the bag being wedged in between the coils of the spring. Over inflating the bag can cause the wedging to become too severe and therefore causing the material to thin, which in turn, causes a decrease in spring rate and a premature failure.

Specific Uses for Air Lift 1000 Air Spring Kits

  • Add support to rear springs on many popular SUVs
  • Replaces OEM front air springs on P-30 motor homes
  • Front end support for snowplows, winches, bike racks, and more
  • Improves muscle car traction for drag racing
  • Improves poor handling and braking
  • Improves ride and handling for full-size vans and trucks with front coils

Customer Q&A - Air Lift 81560

will these work on a 3in drop I cut one ring off the standard springs

Asked
Air Lift kit 81560 is designed for stock height coil springs. It will be too tall if you cut out part of your stock coil spring. Air Lift does make universal air bags for coils springs that are done by measurements. We would need the inside diameter of your coils spring and we can see if we can match one up. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

Will this actually change the stationary ride height of a suburban? All other parts are stock.

Asked
Air Lift air springs kit 81560 will not raise the stationary height of your Suburban above stock. The Air lift suspension kit will keep your vehicle at factory ride height when loaded.

The picture of Air Lift 1000 Kit - Front shows air line tubing, but the list in the installation guide does not list tubing on the Hardware List. If tubing is included, how long is it? Also, 'elbow fitting' is not listed. Is that included? Thank You, Bob Searfoss

Asked
The Air Lift kit 81560 air bag kit includes all the necessary parts to install the kit including 16 feet of air line tubing and the elbow fittings shown in the instructions. Thank you!

does this come as a pair?

Asked
Yes, Air Lift kit 81560 is a pair. All Air Lift 1000 kits include 2 air springs, one for each side.

Can i use this with a 3 inch coil lift?

Asked
Air Lift Air Spring Kit 81560 is designed for stock height coil springs. It will work with a lift if you did not change the inside dimensions of your coil springs. If you lift is from taller coil springs, the air bags will be too short.

The Air Lift Company has been developing air spring suspension products for over 50 years. The original product, a rubber air spring inserted into a car's factory coil spring, was developed and patented in 1950.

The versatility of Air Lift air springs were proven during the early years of stock car racing. Air Lifts were used by most of the stock car racing teams for twenty years or so until the racing suspensions evolved to more sophisticated systems. The Air Lift Company sponsored cars were tough competitors on the NASCAR Grand National Circuit. The Air Lift Company has the longest history of product development dedicated solely to the development of light vehicle air suspension products.

First, in the 1950s, Air Lift pioneered the use of air spring inserts in coil spring suspensions. Then, in the 1960s, Air Lift introduced the use of sleeve-type air springs on pickup truck suspensions. During the 1980s Air Lift started using air helper springs on motor homes and ambulances. Street rods and lowered vehicles were the target in the 1990s. Today's products are an evolution of Air Lift's breakthrough development programs applying the use of air springs in light truck and motor home suspensions. Air Lift has won more SEMA awards for air spring development products than any other company.
