BILSTEIN 5100 SERIES

for the rocky road ahead.

bilstein 5100 shocks

Bilstein 5100 series shocks are top of the line, and an industry leader for lifted trucks shocks. Designed specifically for larger tires, taller stances and the additional demands that are placed on your truck. Enhanced performance is achieved through the 5100's monotube design and patented digressive valving. Bilstein 5100 Series shocks work just as good on the highway as they do on the trail by quickly reacting to road conditions to maintain a comfortable and controlled ride. Bilstein has years of experience in off-road racing and the technology has been transferred to their line of truck shocks.

The Bilstein 5100 series offer a high-quality shock option that is built to last. These shocks are built to fit in factory mounting configurations but with extended length to accommodate your lifted vehicle. Featuring a zinc and nickel coating with a clear coat sealant the 5100 series is highly resistant to corrosion. The internal components are built using exact tolerances and high- quality materials. With a high-pressure nitrogen charge and monotube design the 5100 series dissipates heat like no other shock preventing seal damage from heat and extending the life of the shock. An internal dividing piston allows the oil to expand as it warms up preventing extra stress on seals and eliminating fade. Whether they are used on the trail, for work, or on your commute; the Bilstein 5100 series will perform for years ahead.

BILSTEIN 5100 adjustable shocks

the perfect height.

BILSTEIN 5100 Adjustable Shocks

Are you looking to level out the front of your half-ton truck or SUV and don’t want to use coil spring spacers? Bilstein 5100 Ride Height adjustable shocks are a quick and cost effective way to obtain some lift, level your front end and have a high end monotube shock. They are vehicle specific and work with your trucks existing suspension for easy installation.

Using your factory coil spring the 5100 series ride height adjustable struts offer five position options for lifting the front of your truck or SUV up to 2.75” depending on application. Using a snap ring to change the position of your lower coil spring seat you can quickly change the adjustment of the lift height before you install the struts. The only additional cost is the price of a front end alignment after the struts are installed, there are no hidden surprises with Bilstein. By using the strut itself to provide the lift you avoid adding extra components to the front end keeping it simple and reliable.

Easy ride height adjustment.

Bilstein B8 5100 Ride Height Adjustable Features:
  • 46mm Monotube gas pressure construction.
  • Extremely affordable lift and shock combo.
  • Snap ring grooves on shock body provide up to 2.75" of front end lift (depending on application).
  • More practical than strut extension or spring pre-load spacer kits.
  • Offers increased wheel and suspension travel.
  • Application specific design available for many popular light trucks and SUVs.
  • Larger working piston area for better damping.
  • Made in the USA.

If your vehicle has more demand on the suspension from towing or hauling, or if your vehicle is lifted, the 5100 series will be right for you. With extended travel lengths and a valving setup for on or off road, Bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers instantly react to changing road inputs to maintain a stable, controlled, and comfortable ride.

Yes and No. The Bilstein 5100 series includes the 5100 series shocks and the 5100 series ride height adjustable struts. A strut can change ride height where as a shock can not. A 5100 series strut assembly will allow you to increase your vehicle's ride height by changing where the lower spring seat (or spring perch) is located, up to 2.75" in most cases. A 5100 series shock will have an extended length over stock shock absorbers, to accommodate an already lifted vehicle, up to 6" in many cases.

No. The 5100 series uses the same digressive valving that all Bilstein products use. Bilstein's digressive valving is designed to react quickly to changing road surfaces for on and off-road use. This valving may change the ride characteristics but it should not make it feel stiffer.

Yes. In many cases there is an option for a no lift setting on the struts and a 0" lifted shock that will work with stock height trucks. The stock height shock will normally cover a 0" (Stock Height) to 1" lift.

No. The silver finish is a zinc coating with a clear coat over it. The zinc is a high performance finish to protect the metal and prevent corrosion. The clear coat is added to increase protection and keep them shining.

Most shocks will have a different upper and lower mount that will determine the mounting orientation. Sometimes the upper and lower mounts will be the same. Bilstein shocks can be designed with the body up or the body down but they should be mounted so that the Bilstein logos are right side up.

Using high pressure nitrogen prevents the oil in a Bilstein shock from foaming under extreme use and this prevents fading. This keeps your shocks working reliably in even the most demanding situations.

The high-pressure gas and the perfect internal seal forces the monotube piston out of the shock and causes it to extend. This helps Bilstein shocks deliver the most responsive valving possible.
