I installed a rear kit on my pickup truck and it's almost touching the axle. The installation instructions indicate that I need a 1" gap. What do I do?
Remove the spacer supplied in the assembly. If you have already done this, or if there is no spacer in the kit, then take the vehicle for a test drive. Often the suspension enhancement system is installed on vehicles with a partial load, or on vehicles with an older suspension. In these cases the rubber spring may be in contact with no adverse ride quality. If the ride quality is poor, give us a call at 1-800-358-4751, or contact Timbren Customer Service at 1-800-263-3113.
I installed a rear kit on my pickup truck and there is over 2 inches of gap between the rubber spring and the axle. Is this OK?
Ideally the rubber spring needs a gap of about 1 inch. In most cases, this can be done with the spacer included in the product. If you have already installed everything included, give us a call at 1-800-358-4751, and we'll assist you.
The capacity of the kit seems awfully high. I don't think I need that much! What do you recommend?
The real question you seem to be asking is "Will this give me a rough ride?" Timbren rubber springs provide superb ride quality both empty and loaded. No matter how small or big the load, the Aeon rubber spring will adjust to provide a smooth and safe ride.
I'm getting a rough ride when I'm unloaded. Can that be fixed?
Measure the gap between the rubber spring and the axle to see if there is enough clearance. (See question and answer 1 for further details and solutions).
The rubber spring is touching the axle all the time. Will that hurt the truck?
The point of contact on a loaded truck actually is a secondary point of contact. The entire weight of the vehicle and payload normally contacts the axle at the point under the leaf springs. By adding a secondary point of contact, just inside this point, we are reducing the stress of contact at the original point and are spreading out the load to 4 points of contact on the axle instead of 2. As well, the progressive spring rate provides a soft uptake of the load rather than the sudden stop of a solid bump stop, again providing a good ride with reduced stress.
I have a 1985 motor home that is sagging badly in the rear. Will your suspension enhancement system help?
The Timbren suspension enhancement system will certainly help, but it is designed to work in conjunction with a suspension that is in good condition. We recommend that the motor home be inspected by a suspension specialist to make sure the suspension is in good condition prior to installing a Timbren system. If you need more information, give us a call at 1-800-358-4751 - we are experts in service and repair of vehicle suspensions.
Can I haul more weight on my truck if I install your suspension enhancement system?
You cannot exceed the manufacturer's axle rating or GVW rating of the vehicle. The Timbren suspension enhancement system will greatly enhance the performance of a heavily loaded vehicle. You can expect the vehicle to have reduced sag, and improved roll stability.
What are the benefits of the Timbren SES system as compared to an air spring system?
Some of the advantages over the typical air systems are:
  • The Timbren suspension system can be installed in about an hour (less shop time)
  • The Suspension Enhancement System has a satisfaction guarantee
  • The product is trouble free
  • There are no airlines to leak, no maintenance required
  • There is a Lifetime guarantee
  • The product is about ½ the price of an air system
