Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs

Ride-Rite air helper springs can be installed on most light trucks, motorhomes, RVs, SUVs, and vans. Firestone air helper springs are installed between the frame of the vehicle and the suspension, providing load support through the use of air pressure.

Firestone has made a commitment to provide the customer with the premium air helper spring kits in the industry. Ride-Rite has become synonymous with quality, durability, and with customer support truly second to none. Each application is specifically designed to maximize the safe load carrying capacity, stability, and ride quality of the vehicle.

Firestone Ride Rite air helper springs utilize a pair of convoluted air springs which can be adjusted for changing loads. These air springs are capable of 3200-5000 lbs of load leveling capacity per set.(Note: Do NOT exceed the vehicle's recommended gross vehicle weight rating GVWR). Firestone air helper springs enhance the ride by reducing leaf friction. Please remember that air springs do not increase the load-carrying capacity of your vehicle.

Ride-Rite air helper springs enhance the ride by reducing inter-leaf friction. Please remember that air springs do not increase the load-carrying capacity of your vehicle.

Basic Kit includes everything for a quick installation:

  • 2 Air springs
  • Brackets
  • Hardware
  • Air line
  • Separate inflation valves for manual inflation

Features & Benefits of Ride-Rite Air Bags and Air Spring Kits

  • Keep the Vehicle level - improve steering control and braking effectiveness, level headlight beams, and reduce tire wear
  • Reduce suspension fatigue - keep leaf springs from sagging under repeated or constant load
  • Air adjustments improves the ride - allowing the air springs to be matched to the load
  • Level off-center loads- individual inflation valves allow for adjustment side-to-side
  • Reduce bottoming out - protective air cushion softens contact between the axle and frame
  • Increase vehicle stability - absorbing road shock providing ideal ride conditions for passengers and load

Comments about Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Kit - Rear:

The product works as advertised the only problem I have found is due to the low volume of air the system holds, the bags will not maintain air pressure over night. I have checked extensively for leaks and there isnt any leaks. The only conclusion I can come to is when the temp drops at night the air is condensing which makes it seem like the bags are leaking. I experience this problem when it is 70 during the day and drops to 30 or 40 at night. In the morning the gauge will read 1 or 2 psi. I will be adding an automatic compressor system with a low psi switch to remedy this issue. Outside of this issue the bags have worked great.

Fitted the air bags specially for the towing of a 5th Wheeler. Easy to install and instruction for installation was very helpful and easy to read. Delivery was good, though it took 3 weeks to deliver to NSW Australia. Overall, a very good product, very happy.

Applied to an 08' F250 4X4. The bags work great. I pull a 30' camper and these bags make up the little extra that the torsion bars on camper are lacking. The bags can still be felt (slightly) when deflated to the min required 5 psi. Great product. I should have bought these years ago.

After looking at many web sites, this was the best pricing that I found for this kit. My phone order was placed and the kit showed up in 4 working days. The gentlemen that took my order was friendly and knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the great service.

I have used these on all my work trucks since 1999. This design is the best so far. It looks very solid.

I did have issues with the install on a 2013 F250 with flex fuel. There is a canister mounted in the spare tire compartment that has a hose that runs right over one of the mounting holes on the driver side. Took a little work to get the bracket on. Also the bracket that straddles the metal piece where the bumper cushion that is removed hits did not allow the axel bracket to sit flush. The screw that holds the air spring on hits it. I may change that screw for a more low profile one. So far it is sitting tight but I have gone off road with it yet.

Took me a day and a half to install but mostly because of the hose issue. Happy with them so far

My situation is that we want to travel several months away from iowa during the winter. My wife has diabetes and bad discs in ger back. She complains about the bumpy ride in our 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty V-10 4Wheel Drive Pickup. Will this product improve the ride in the cab so she won't feel every bump and be uncomfortable during the entire trip? I've been told the only way to soften the ride is to change the leaf springs and then that will adversely affect the handling of the 5 th Wheel. I hope you can help thanks Ron

                                A:

Firestone air bags will help improve the ride when you are hauling your 5th wheel. Its difficult to say if it will correct the problem with feeling every bump in the road. If your truck sags when towing your 5th wheel, the air bag kit will help level it out and improve the ride.

If she is feeling every bump in the road we recommend looking at a high end shock absorber like Bilstein shocks. Shocks are designed to handle the bumps in the road more than an air spring would.

If you change the leaf springs to a lighter duty leaf spring you will loose the towing capacity. If you add an air bag kit to a lighter leaf spring it will require you to run the air bag with more PSI which results in a stiffer ride. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if any additional questions.

                                A:

Once the Firestone air suspension kit 2550 air springs are installed, it is recommended that the vehicle not be lifted by the frame, as over-extension may occur, resulting in damage to the air springs. However, should it become necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, deflate both air springs completely. The maximum extended length of the air spring 6401 in the 2550 air suspension kit is 8.91 inches.

                            • Q:

Will this set fit an F350 KR crew cab diesel Dually with an inbed 5th wheel hitch? The goose neck equipment has been removed to install the Hyjacker hitch. I would like to be able to install at home and I carry a compressor with me so have no problem decreasing air pressure to 5-10 pounds while not towing and increasing the pressure once connected up.

                              Thanks
                              Brian

Yes, Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Kit 2550 will work with a in-bed 5th wheel hitch. The Firestone 2550 kit works with 5th wheel or Gooseneck hitches. You can view the installation instructions on our website and see exactly how it mounts. We have not run into any 5th wheel hitches that did not work with Firestone air spring kit 2550.
