All SuperSprings applications are length specific to best fit the dimensions of your
vehicles spring pack. The shackles attached to the eyes at each end of the
SuperSprings have multiple bolt-hole options giving you some flexibility in adjusting the preload tension
of the spring.
Using the lower bolt holes of the spring shackle, gives you a “longer” shackle, and lessens
the amount of preload tension on the SuperSprings. As a result, it gives the least noticeable
impact on the ride quality and ride height of an unloaded truck.
Using the upper bolt holes of the spring shackle, results in a “shorter”shackle, and
preloads more tension on the SuperSprings stabilizer spring. As a result, it gives the greatest change on the ride quality and ride
height of an unloaded vehicle.
The various combinations of upper and lower bolt holes used on the spring shackles of the SuperSpring creates intermediate ride
quality and ride height.
Short or single-hole spring shackles are generally used in applications
where clearance between the top of the SuperSpring and the
vehicle frame needs to be increased. Using the upper (top) bolt
hole on a two or three-hole spring shackle will produce the same effect.
A square spring shackle is used on some applications that are equipped with a stock
above-spring factory overload. In these cases the square SuperSprings shackle
captures the end of the factory overload spring.
Which vehicle applications require a mounting kit?
The SuperSprings stablizer spring mounting kit is typically used on all vehicles with leaf springs positioned above their axle.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule, specifically:
- Vehicles equipped with a factory overload spring above the main spring pack
- Ford F250’s and F350 with no factory overloads
- Ford E350’s
- Some Dodge 2500’s
Using the Shop By Vehicle option, in the upper left corner, select your vehicle make and model. After you click on the shop button, all
steel helper spring kits that fit your vehicle application will display. If a mounting kit is required, it will be included in the kit,
and product description will read 'SuperSpring Kit - with Mounting Kit'.
Mounting Kits - How they work
The mounting kit has one simple function: to induce minimal preload tension onto the installed
SuperSpring. This is done to ensure that when the upfitted vehicle is unloaded, the SuperSprings
operate silently.
The 2" tall mounting brackets act as fulcrum points on the underside of the SuperSpring
and the shackles at each end of the springs secure it in place; pivoting as load is transferred to the springs.
All nuts included in the helper spring mounting kit are nylok self-locking, and will not loosen when correctly installed. When tightening these nuts simply "snug" them securely.
Over-tightening might have the effect of marginally stiffening the vehicles ride.
