Customer Q&A - Air Lift 16060

Does the 16060 compressor have a one way valve in it.

Asked
This 16060 Airlift compressor does have a built-in check valve.

I installed the wireless model 16060 compressor with air bag 1000. Does this compressor system maintain the min. recommended 5 PSI or must that be done manually?

Asked
If you have Air Lift wireless one air controller part 25870 it will maintain the minimum air pressure. The kit has the a low pressure sensor that automatically activates the air compressor if air spring pressure falls below safe level. Part 16060 is a replacement air compressor for the kit. The compressor itself does not have the sensor, but the wireless one kit part 25870 does.

We have a Ford F350 that we would like to replace the compressor in the air suspension system. The one we took off looks similar to this one and has the same wiring and hose connections it would appear. How do we know if this compressor is large enough? We saw 'light duty applications' and aren't sure how to know if this is a good fit. Thank you!

Asked
There are not many air compressors that look the same as the Air lift 16060. If yours looks like this one, it will be a direct replacement. They are used in light duty air spring applications. If you are occasionally inflating and deflating your air bags and are satisfied with the way your current compressor worked, this Air lift replacement compressor will work fine for you.

Is the PSI adjustable. In other words, can I set it to shut off at say 90 PSI?

Asked
This air compressor is not psi adjustable. It is used in Air Lift air compressor kits and is turned on / off with a switch on a control panel.

Could you please give me an idea of the dimensions of this unit. I've already ordered one with one of your kits, just tring to figure where I will mount it. Thanks

Asked
Air Lift air compressor 16060 is 9" L x 5" W x 4" H.

Will this compressor provide sufficient air pressure for my 25' motohome's Firestone rear airbags?

Asked
Air Lift air compressor 16060 is designed for light duty applications. The air compressor is commonly used for Firestone and Air Lift air bags that are used in coil spring applications or ½ ton pickups. Your motorhome most likely has Firestone Ride-Rite air bags which typically require a medium to heavy duty air compressor such as Firestone Air Compressor 9284 or 9285. The 16060 will work with Ride-Rite air bags, but if you inflate and deflate them regularly you're better off spending the extra money on a compressor with a higher duty cycle and quicker fill time. The 16060 has a maximum air pressure of 100 psi, which is what Firestone Ride-Rite air bags are rated at. You will be working the air compressor to its maximum to fill your air bags up to 100 psi. The Firestone 9284 and 9285 have a 130 and 150 maximum psi, so they will have an easier time filling your air bags to the maximum psi if needed. Bottom line, yes it will work. Would I do it if I was my motorhome? No, I would use a compressor that isn't working to its maximum capacity to get to 100 psi. If you motorhome has rear coil springs, the 16060 will work fine.

The Air Lift Company has been developing air spring suspension products for over 50 years. The original product, a rubber air spring inserted into a car's factory coil spring, was developed and patented in 1950.

The versatility of Air Lift air springs were proven during the early years of stock car racing. Air Lifts were used by most of the stock car racing teams for twenty years or so until the racing suspensions evolved to more sophisticated systems. The Air Lift Company sponsored cars were tough competitors on the NASCAR Grand National Circuit. The Air Lift Company has the longest history of product development dedicated solely to the development of light vehicle air suspension products.

First, in the 1950s, Air Lift pioneered the use of air spring inserts in coil spring suspensions. Then, in the 1960s, Air Lift introduced the use of sleeve-type air springs on pickup truck suspensions. During the 1980s Air Lift started using air helper springs on motor homes and ambulances. Street rods and lowered vehicles were the target in the 1990s. Today's products are an evolution of Air Lift's breakthrough development programs applying the use of air springs in light truck and motor home suspensions. Air Lift has won more SEMA awards for air spring development products than any other company.
