Hellwig EZ 990

The EZ-990 helper springs are packaged complete with the same heavy duty powder coated and plated components, hardware and installation instructions as the heavy duty helper spring products. Ideally suited for light to medium towing and loads, these units are fully adjustable using the heavy duty u-bolts included in the kit using simple hand tools. If your tow and haul needs change, simply adjust the heavy duty u-bolts to suit the new requirement. Once installed and adjusted you are free to haul and or tow a multitude of equipment and commodities with greater control and stability.

These springs are hot-formed and heat-treated for strength and durability, and help to provide a safer, level ride. Made with high-quality, ASTM 5150 alloy spring steel, they're designed to eliminate rear-end sag and increase your vehicles level load carrying capacity up to the manufacturer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. With 2,000 lb. They're easy to install and mount to your factory axle U-bolt plates without any hard-to-install compressors or air bags to fail.

07 GMC Sierra classic 1500 4 will they work for my truck

This 987 kit is not compatible with the 2007 classic model. Hellwig recommends the 986 for a 2007 Silverado and Sierra 1500 Classic 4x4.

Using on a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500, truck squats a bit with my 27 ft tow trailer/camper. Will this help

Yes, Hellwig helper spring 987 is designed to reduce squatting when towing a trailer and will help. The kit has a 2000 lbs. capacity and it is typically adequate for moderate sag from a camper. How much it will reduce will depend on your tongue weight of your trailer.

will this product help with sagging on my truck when I am towing a travel trailer?

Yes, Hellwig helper springs kits are designed specifically to help prevent sagging when towing a trailer. This kit is a medium duty kit and has 2,000 lbs. of capacity. To determine if this helper spring kit is sufficient enough we would need to know the tongue weight of your trailer. If it is under 2,000 lbs, which is should be with a travel trailer, the kit will work well for you. If you have a high tongue weight you may want to look at the Hellwig Pro Series kit which have a higher weight rating.

Do the Hellwig helper springkit-987 mount under or over the existing rear spring. Two other people asked the same thing and got two different answers.You can read them both in your question section. Also, do they come with bolt hardware to mount them?

Hellwig kit 987 is a step style helper spring that mounts on top of the leaf spring. The step takes them over the existing U-Bolts so there is no need to loosen or remove the stock U-Bolts. The instructions linked to these on our website do talk about loosening the existing U-Bolts but that is not the case with this kit as it is a step style. We apologize for the confusion in the answers but we did confirm that they mount over the springs. Hellwig kit 987 includes all the mounting hardware that is needed to install them.

It states for my 2011 Sierra 1500 that it is a "step Style" spring....do these mount OVER the existing Ubolt plates or do I need to remove them and mount it under the plate

Hellwig Helper Spring 987 mounts over the existing u-bolts plates. You do not have to remove anything when installing the helper springs. They will mount on top of your existing springs and plates.

Can you tell me why this product can't be installed on Chevy Tahoe (1999)with rear AC, as indicated by Hellwig.

The Hellwig helper springs are in close proximity to the rear air conditioning lines. If the springs shift or move they will puncture the lines. Hellwig does not recommend using them on vehicles with rear ac.

Will this product change the height of my truck? Will it fit under the donut on from the manufacture that sits right above the axle. I have a GMC 2013 Sierra 1500 with a trailer package

Will adding the helper springs affect the ride quality without a load.

Hellwig kit 987 for the newer model Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500's will have very little if any effect on the ride when you are not loaded. You can tighten or loosen the u-bolts to adjust the preload on them. This will reduce any stiffness in the ride when not loaded. We have not had any complaints regarding ride quality of the Hellwig 987 kit when not loaded.
