Sales-tax collection requirements may change. The amount calculated during checkout will reflect the requirements applicable to your order at that time.

How Sales Tax Is Calculated

Sales tax is calculated using the applicable tax rules and rates for your complete shipping address.

An estimated amount may be displayed in the shopping cart based on the location information available at that time. The applicable amount will be calculated during checkout after the complete shipping address has been entered.

The final tax amount may change if the shipping address, taxable items, quantities, discounts, or other order details change.

Tax-Exempt Orders

Customers claiming a sales-tax exemption must provide a valid exemption certificate or other documentation required for the state where the order is being shipped.

How to Submit an Exemption Certificate

  1. During online checkout, select the tax-exempt option if displayed. For telephone orders, tell the representative that you are claiming a sales-tax exemption.
  2. Complete the appropriate exemption certificate for the state where the order will be shipped.
  3. Email the completed certificate to exempt@truckspring.com or fax it to 1-989-755-1611.
  4. Include your order number or TruckSpring account information so that we can associate the certificate with the correct order.

Tax-exempt orders may be held until the required documentation has been received, reviewed, and approved. Selecting the tax-exempt option during checkout does not by itself establish eligibility for an exemption.

State Exemption Forms and Resources

Use the links below to obtain the applicable certificate or instructions directly from the state taxing authority. The type of certificate required will depend on the exemption being claimed, such as resale, government, nonprofit, agricultural, or manufacturing use.

Many states participate in the Streamlined Sales Tax program and accept its multistate exemption certificate. Customers remain responsible for selecting the correct exemption and providing all required information.

These links are provided for convenience. State requirements, forms, and eligibility rules may change. Customers should verify that they are using the correct current document for the exemption being claimed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will claiming an exemption delay my order?

It may. A tax-exempt order will not be released as tax-exempt until the required documentation has been received, reviewed, and approved.

Can I provide only my tax ID number or sales-tax license?

Usually not. A tax ID number, business license, sales-tax license, or photograph of a license does not ordinarily contain all the information required to support an exempt sale. Please provide a properly completed exemption certificate or other documentation acceptable for the applicable state.

Will I need to submit the certificate again?

Customers with a TruckSpring account may be approved for future qualifying orders while a valid certificate remains on file. A new certificate may be required if the existing certificate expires, the shipping state changes, the exemption type changes, the account information changes, or updated documentation is otherwise required.

What happens if TruckSpring does not collect tax for my state?

You may still have a use-tax or other tax obligation under the laws of your state. Requirements vary by jurisdiction. Please consult your state or local taxing authority or a qualified tax professional for guidance.

Can sales tax be removed after I place my order?

To have sales tax removed, submit the required exemption documentation as soon as possible and before the order is finalized for shipment. After that point, Michigan Truck Spring generally does not refund or adjust sales tax based on documentation submitted later, except where required by applicable law.
