I FOUND A BROKEN SPRING UNDER MY REESE SLIDER HITCH AND i CANNOT FIND WHERE IT CAME FROM. ONE IS STILL IN PLACE IS THIS NECESSARY FOR SAFE TOWING

Yes, Reese does advise in the manual that before each trip you "see that all hitch pull pins are in place and the spring retaining pins are installed". We recommend that you have the spring replaced before towing.

How do you use and adjust slider?

The lower bar as seen in the picture of the Reese 30051 fifth wheel hitch is the release for the slider. When changing from towing position to maneuvering the bar is moved to the middle unlocked position and the trailer brakes locked. The vehicle is pulled forward and the slider will lock the fifth wheel in place when it is in the rearmost position. Changing from maneuvering mode to towing is the reverse process. What the warranty does not cover
