I'm looking at this compression fitting specifically part# 92837 and it is being described as a male NPT 1/4". If I am going by the photos for the different sizes of these type of fittings such as part #'s 92836, 92837, 92838, and 92951 the photos do not match the descriptions as being male or female per pictures. If I want to order 2 of the part#'s 92837 I need to make sure that they have an end that is a male NPT 1/4" that will actually screw into my female NPT fittings that I have. My second question is that the hose that I am trying to fit these fittings onto the I.D. of the hose is 1/4" with an O.D. of ~.460". So, is the half of that fitting that I will loosen on one of those fittings, will the orifice of that half slip over the hose body with no problem? In other words what is the ~ I.D. of that orifice of that hex-piece that will slip onto the hose that will tighten the hose? I am ready to buy.

Yes, they are male NPT. The photo was a generic one that showed female. We have updated the photo to show the correct NPT male end. Air line is measured by OD. The fittings fit air line that has 1/4 inch OD.
