Dayton 338-2544 Details

Did your truck or SUV become difficult to steer after its suspension was raised? Has it become more difficult to negotiate turns? Does your vehicle react badly when you drive over a bump or pothole? These problems are common with vehicles with an increase ride height because lifting the suspension alters the geometry of your steering linkage.

Raising a vehicle can often cause a realignment of components in the steering linkage. This realignment can cause the driver to turn the wheel more to accomplish a maneuver that would normally require less turn of the wheel, this is known as understeer.

Another problem caused realigning a vehicle’s steering linkage is bump steer. Bump steer is noticeable when the vehicle passes over a large bump or pothole. When a vehicle experiencing bump steer hits a bump, it will dart or jump to the side, resulting in a momentary loss of control.

Both of these problems can be solved by restoring the correct geometry to your steering linkage. By adding specialized steering components for lifted vehicles to your steering linkage, its proper shape can be restored. Pitman arms, steering arms and steering blocks all restore that shape by connecting the parts of the steering linkage without compromising the correct geometry.
