Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs

Ride-Rite air helper springs can be installed on most light trucks, motorhomes, RVs, SUVs, and vans. Firestone air helper springs are installed between the frame of the vehicle and the suspension, providing load support through the use of air pressure.

Firestone has made a commitment to provide the customer with the premium air helper spring kits in the industry. Ride-Rite has become synonymous with quality, durability, and with customer support truly second to none. Each application is specifically designed to maximize the safe load carrying capacity, stability, and ride quality of the vehicle.

Firestone Ride Rite air helper springs utilize a pair of convoluted air springs which can be adjusted for changing loads. These air springs are capable of 3200-5000 lbs of load leveling capacity per set.(Note: Do NOT exceed the vehicle's recommended gross vehicle weight rating GVWR). Firestone air helper springs enhance the ride by reducing leaf friction. Please remember that air springs do not increase the load-carrying capacity of your vehicle.

Do the mounting brackets mount on inside of frame ?

Answer:

The upper brackets in this air spring kit mount to the outside of the frame and the lower brackets will mount on top of the leaf spring pack. On some applications you may need to confirm the spacing from the tire to the frame to allow clearance for the bags and brackets.

Question:

I plan to run this kit on my 2001 F-450 2WD DRW. Understanding my payload capacity will be reduced would it be possible for me to remove 2 or three springs on each side to obtain a smoother unloaded ride and rely on the air bags to bring the ride height back up? I generally only have a few quads on my 10'x8' flatbed. I understand if you can't recommend this course of action, I'm just curious if it will work.

Answer:

We have tried this in our service department a few times over the years and have found out the by removing a few of the leaf springs it puts more of the load on the air bags. It forces you to run the air bags at a higher psi to compensate for the missing support in the leaf springs. From our experience we would not recommend it as the ride was not much smoother because the air bags need a high psi to maintain the stock ride height.

2016 f450 lariat with factory bed do you have a set that works thanks

Answer:

Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2442 fits the 2015 Ford F-450 with a factory bed. We contacted Firestone and they do not have information on if it will fit the 2016 at this time. They advised they will have this by early November when the new application guides are printed. We will update our website and the 2442 once we find out if it fits for certain.

I have a 2001 F450 with factory bed, will this air bag kit fit my truck? All the info I can find says cab and chassis without factory bed. If not do you know what kit will fit. Thanks

We are showing that Ford didn't start making F-450's with factory beds until 2008. Please verify that your truck came from the factory with a bed. You can email us your VIN to truckspring@truckspring.com and we can double check for you or you can call a Ford parts department. Firestone does have air bag kits for Ford F-450's with a factory bed starting from 2008 on up.

Will this be compatible with my b and w gooseneck hitch on 2006 f350 super duty. King ranch?

Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2176 is designed for F-350's that came from the factory without a pickup bed on them, cab and chassis. If you have a F-350 King Ranch with a pickup bed, you will want Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2550. It is designed to work with gooseneck hitches and will work with your B & W hitch.
