Hellwig EZ 550

The EZ-550 helper springs are packaged complete with the same heavy duty powder coated and plated components, hardware and installation instructions as the heavy duty helper spring products. Ideally suited for light towing and loads, they are fully adjustable using the heavy duty u-bolts included in the kit using simple hand tools. If your tow and haul needs change, simply adjust the heavy duty u-bolts to suit the new requirement. Once installed and adjusted you are free to haul and or tow a multitude of equipment and commodities with greater control and stability.

These units are hot-formed and heat-treated for strength and durability to help provide a safer, level ride. Made with high-quality ASTM 5150 alloy spring steel, they're designed to end that rear-end sag and can increase your vehicles level load carrying capacity up to the manufacturer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Their 550 lb. level load capacity is ideal for lighter loads, giving you more control through level load management. They're easy to install-they just bolt right on without any hard-to-install compressors or air bags to fail.

Hello, There are a few complaints about the 550 EZ on Amazon that it does not fit Toyota Tacoma. Something about getting in the way of brake lines. I have a 2010 4x4 Tacoma. Should I be concerned?

Answer:

We spoke with Hellwig technical regarding Helper Spring Kit 550 and they have had no fitment issues that he knows of with this kit on the Toyota Tacoma. He had no notes in his system on any problems. This is the correct fit for a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4X4.

Question:

Can the helper spring be attached further down the leaf spring away from the axle and right close to the shackle and hanger? Will this ffect its performance?

Answer:

We spoke with Hellwig tech support and they advised it can be done as long as the helper spring captures 2 leaves of the spring and does not interfere with the up and down movement of the spring. Hellwig also advised to make sure it is not too close to the hanger and shackle of the leaf spring.

Does this helper spring raise normal ride height without a load on it?

Answer:

Hellwig helper springs help provide extra support with a load on it and help maintain stock ride height. The springs will help prevent your truck from sagging, but will not raise the height above stock.

Are these spring helpers to be installed in front or rear part of the spring leafs of my tacoma.

Hellwig Helper Springs Kit 550 is designed to mount on the rear of the leaf spring. We do have some customers mounting them on the front of the leaf spring to help with axle wrap. It will not harm anything to mount it to the front of the leaf spring, although it is designed and the majority of people mount them to the rear. Hellwig Kit 550 is 18 ½" long and 2-1/2 " wide.
